About me

Hi, I'm Marcie Russell!

I am passionate about supporting my clients in reaching their goals. I am trained as a somatic mental health counselor and dance movement therapist, and had a private practice in Albuquerque for three years. While I love doing clinical work, I have also found that I struggle with psychology's secular foundations and focus on pathology. Coaching lets me be a Christian in my work in a way that felt harder inside the mental health field. I want my work with clients to be goal-oriented, present- and future-focused, and to unapologetically make room for God.

Being a Christian shapes how I work, but you don't need to share my tradition, or any faith at all, to work with me.

A little bit about my journey

I grew up in an Episcopal home and church, graduated from a Christian high school, and was actively involved in a Christian group in college. In my early adulthood, I walked away from the Christian faith because it did not feel like home anymore. I spent some time in sweat lodges and countless hours in silent meditation, but still felt like I had not found what I was looking for. I have spent years in therapy working on PTSD, anxiety, and depression, and found healing in those spaces, but I still hadn't found the healing I was looking for.

Eventually, I found what I was looking for in the Eastern Orthodox Church, and I am finally home.

Now I'm happily married, raising a wonderful son, and I sing in my church choir. I spend as much time outside as I can, I'm rarely without a book, and I love baking and dancing. I am also a 6th-generation carpenter and love getting into my workshop whenever I can.

A note on scope: Coaching is not therapy and isn't a substitute for mental health treatment. My clinical background shapes how I teach nervous-system tools, but our work together is goal-focused and forward-looking, not diagnostic or clinical care.
